History Afloat: Voices from the Working Waterfront
Dan Voelz, Owner of Pacific Pride
Dan Voelz is the owner of Pacific Pride, a marine supply store in Ketchikan. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he returned to Ketchikan and was hired at Murray Pacific as a freight clerk in 1996. After the store manager retired, Dan moved from a purchaser role into the manager position. In 2015, Dan purchased Murray Pacific and renamed it Pacific Pride after the boat his grandfather built for his grandmother. Pacific Pride maintains an inventory of over 14,000 items for the fishing fleet to the hobby boater that fluctuates based on the season. Dan navigates the complex logistics of getting these essential supplies to Ketchikan and prioritizes having a good stock on hand.
